The Daily Leap’s classic throwback video pick is “Number One” by Pharell ft. Kanye West. While scrolling through some of my old CDs, I was reminded when this song first hit the airwaves in the Summer of 2006. It gave such a new pop yet throwback feeling; a sound reminiscent of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. And in this video, of course, Mr. “Skateboard P” and “The Louis Vutton Don” is looking so fly, so I had to bring it back ! This is definitely a classic summer hit, so check it out and enjoy! :) ~H.R.

Hip-hop new comer Joell Ortiz has been gracing the airways with his fresh-old school vibe single entitled “Call me” featuring Novel. Satellite radio has been blazing it for a couple of months now; however mainstream radio hasn’t quite picked it up yet. Regardless, check out the song and video here on The Daily Leap and enjoy Ortiz’s vivid, yet charming story of his first high school crush. Hopefully this isn’t the last we’ve heard from the Brooklyn native and his video is very cute might I add. Enjoy! ~H.R.

In the wake of the recent passing of the R&B legend Teddy Pendergrass, today’s throwback video pick is his 1981 single”My Greatest Inspiration.” TDL celebrates his life and music; there will never be another Teddy P! God Bless! ~H.R.

SADE IS BACK!!!!  Her new song “Soldier of Love” is the title track for her new studio album set to release on February 9, 2010. This is Sade’s first studio album in over 10 years. The video for “Soldier of Love” was directed by the very talented Sophie Miller, who if you remember, directed No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak” video. The video looks artistically beautiful and Sade looks better than ever! In short:  her song is HOT and the video is HOTTER! Check it out! ~H.R.

Corinne Bailey Rae “I’d Do It All Again”

Corinne Bailey Rae | MySpace Music Videos

London based singer/songwriter, Corinne Bailey Rae recently released the video for her new song, ”I’d Do it All Again”. The song will be featured on her upcoming album “The Sea” set to release on February 2, 2010. This is Corinne’s first studio released project after the tragic death of her husband almost two years ago in March 2008. Her 2007 album, “Live in New York” is a must have and is one of my all time favorites. Her new video and song is pretty interesting. So, check it out and let me know what you think! ~H.R.

The Throwback Video Pick of this week comes from the Queen of Hip-hop and Soul,  Mary J. Blige. Her video “Be Happy” comes from her 1992 album “My Life” which solidified her as R&B royalty. The Hype Williams video reveals a real yet  intimate side of MJB and the black and white and color imagery is pretty cool as well.

Currently Mary J. Blige is working on her 9th studio album entitled “Stronger” set to release on December 22, 2009. Check out the video and remember “Be Happy” :) ~H.R.
